Abstract

In this paper, we discuss the role of experimentation in physics teaching, using practical examples around the Snell-Descartes law. We suggest various issues to teach this law in an experimental way, on the basis that laboratory work must help students to explore conceptual as well as procedural aspects of an experimental task close to a scientific activity. Moreover we consider experimentation as a mean to promote proper links between the world of objects, theories, concepts and laws, and symbolic languages used in physics.
